Interviwes

Council

The girl at Manly Council was nice, knew straight away which area we were talking about. She directed us to the website where there would be more info "the corso dcp" "business dcp" & "urban design guidelines 2002". (Haven't looked them up yet)

Interviews

Q> How often do you come here and for what reason?
A> Every day, 2-3 days a week, once in a while / I just walk through, I never stop here, We go to the library with the kids, I read my book here in the afternoons.

Q> What do you think of the area?
A> I like it, It's ok I guess, It's not very friendly, looks old, it's so cramped no space, I love the afternoon sun.
More and better seating,
There is not enough space for bikes,
I hate the car park - they should put panels on it with local art or something,
Haha there's an adult shop just here but apparently they aren't allowed to put signs up,
I like the feature wall with quotes of Manly Daily,
The new(ish) cafe's makes it better,
Not many people know about Market Place,
Someone should to something about that big red thing,
Open up the area would be good, so it's more friendly and spacious,
Don't put grass, it would just get distroied
Big modern pavers,
Tucks use it as a driveway = unfriendly > make loading zone instead,
It's called Market Place, how come they don't have the markets here?
I'd like more greneries,
The rest of Manly is very tourist like especially the corso so this is a nice get away for us locals, it's like a hidden/cosy corner which is less noisy and hectic.

People just use it to walk through on their way somewhere else and noone seams to come there to stay except people who go to the library.

Police

It's a dark alley at night time so it obviously doesn't attract many but it has been suprisingly safe and uneventfull. At the backdoor of the Ivanhoe Restaurant thy have a space for smokers so there is a security gard standing there most of the night (=area safe). Us from the Police use the area when walking in between our two main buildings day and night as well.
